PAIN POINT

Do you stuggle working with Image Sequences?

Images Sequences are essential to high-quality visual effects, color, and mastering workflows. Unlike traditional video formats, real-time playback requires the seamless delivery of 24+ files every second. Storage servers and user workstations often get overloaded as creative applications try to read ahead in a timeline which can cause major setbacks.

Benefit

HDD and SSD pools, without separate servers

creative.space's next-generation architecture provides SSD-like performance through an adaptive caching system, achieving real-time playback of the most demanding video formats. The //DEUS EX features SSDs that provide parallel access to each frame file in an Image Sequence. The HDD pool can handle Image Sequences until the RAM has reached full capacity.

PROOF POINT

Sync files between pools through the Web App

Through a combination of SSD and HDD pools, Real by Fake is able to work on color, VFX, and editorial from the same server without creating bottlenecks. Their Colorist can work with 4K HDR OpenEXR files on an SSD pool while the rest of the team utilizes the hard drives. The intuitive creative.space Web Application makes copying and syncing between pools simple; enabling seamless collaboration between artists.

Features that drive success

We’ve created a central hub for your data to make it easier for you and your team to navigate, collaborate, and participate in the creative process. The goal of creative.space’s content management software is to make everyday tasks quick and intuitive so that you can spend less time juggling drives and more time focusing on being creative.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I buy this system?

As a systems integrator, DigitalGlue has sold enterprise storage solutions from other vendors. With the traditional sales model, storage is purchased as a capital expense, which means you must pay taxes on it and depreciate the value each year. In addition, you still have to pay 10-25% of the purchase price every year for a SLA (Service Level Agreement) just to get reactive support. The SLA is an operational expense which means you CAN deduct it from your taxes as part of your operational costs.

On-Premise Managed Storage (OPMS) simplifies storage by combining hardware, software, and support into a single monthly or annual service rate. All three can be claimed as a single operational expense. Our next-gen architecture enables us to provide industry-leading performance at a dramatically lower price point, so this single service rate is often lower than JUST the SLA cost of traditional solutions.

The //AUTEUR is the entry point into this OPMS offering and can be modularly upgraded to become a //DEUS EX by adding SSDs, more RAM, and a faster CPU. If you want to get a taste for creative.space, the //ROGUE is the only unit that we sell. The //AUTEUR and our other rack-mount systems are only available through our On-Premise Managed Storage service offering.

What kind of support is included?

DigitalGlue's creative.space platform uses integrated monitoring tools to provide the first and only storage solution with proactive support. Over 2000 metrics are tracked every second, which trigger prebuilt alarms to notify the proper support staff to investigate.

There are three levels of support that are available based on the level of access:

1. VPN-based Proactive Support:
Storage is connected to the internet and the support team is able to access via secure VPN.

2. Email-based Proactive Support:
Storage is connected to the internet with a secure firewall in place that only allow outbound emails over a single port. Automated emails are sent based on alarm triggers that include a description of the problem and a 10 minute diagnostic view of the system. Support will reach out to assist customer-defined representative,

3. Reactive Support:
No connection is available to storage. Notifications can be sent to customer-defined representatives internally. Customer must reach out to DigitalGlue team for support. Support logs can be downloaded by customer and sent to support.

Is the creative.space software included?

Yes. The software is included on all systems. Support also includes updates to both front-end and back-end software.

Can I connect and offload files off of USB devices?

Yes! We auto-mount USB devices that are connected to the //DEUS EX and present them under the Ingest tab on the Spaces page of the web app. From there, you can use the compare and copy tool to ingest files to your spaces.

Two scenarios this functionality can be helpful for...

1. Offloading Camera Media: You can connect a card reader for your camera media and offload directly into the //DEUS EX. You don't have to worry about reformatting the card. Keep shooting and use the built-in conflict resolution options to bring in only the new files.

2. Syncing Editor Drives: Connect the drives to the //DEUS EX and copy the project folder to them. The editors can go work on their drives, updating their project files and adding additional assets as needed. When you need to update your //DEUS EX with each editor's new work, just point the Copy and Sync tool to the project folders on each device and use the conflict resolution options to push, pull, or sync them. No more manual investigation to see what's new.

How is the storage backed up?

The //DEUS EX is designed as an online storage appliance. It is recommended that you always backup your valuable data to a secondary and even tertiary storage tier to prevent loss.

We provide RAID options, which protect against data loss in varying drive failure scenarios.

Another feature that can protect you from data loss is Snapshots. When you take a Snapshot of one of your Spaces, a read-only copy of it is instantly created that doesn't take up any additional space. The Snapshot grows in size as you orphan files and/or blocks in the Space through deletion or revision.

Can remote editors connect to my spaces?

Yes, but with a few caveats. The //DEUS EX is an enterprise shared storage system that is accessible over whatever networking you set up for it. While you can provide access via a public IP address, we recommend setting up a Virtual Private Network (VPN). The main caveat is that speed will be limited to your internet connectivity.

Will it work with X Application?

Any application that can access SMB or NFS mounts should work out of the box. We have tested and optimized for Adobe Premiere and After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Apple Final Cut Pro X, Avid Media Composer and more.

The only caveat is that Avid Media Composer requires you to use the Ultimate version for Bin Locking and MIMIQ, an additional per-seat 3rd party license, to unlock SMB support. Licenses for MIMIQ are available for $250 a seat with volume discounts available.
